Charles Michell, CEO of Local Seed Company, LLC brings 30 years’ of experience in commercial ag sales, manufacturing and seed production, supply chain, retail distribution, software development and data analytics in precision agriculture.
He recently served as Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Operations at IndigoAg March 2015 to August 2017. Prior to this role he was the Co-Founder and President of Cresco ag, LLC from 2010 to 2013 and as President of Sanders Retail from 2013 to 2015. He started his ag career at Delta and Pine Land Company in Scott MS as a software developer, where his 22-year tenure ended as Vice President of U.S. Operations and Supply Chain. D&PL was acquired by Monsanto in 2007 when he moved to St. Louis and managed the U.S. Sales and Support Services.
Charles is a graduate of Delta State University with a B.B.A. in Information Systems. He has served on several committees in the Commercial and Ag Retail Associations, along with being a past board member and current member of AgGateway association.
Vice President, Product Development and R&D
Chism Craig, Vice President, Product Development and R&D at Local Seed Company brings nearly 20 years of experience in commercial agriculture with a background in crop physiology, agronomy, entomology, precision agriculture and data analytics.
He started his career at the University of Tennessee as an Assistant Professor with both research and extension responsibilities while serving as the Cotton Specialist for Tennessee. From there, he joined Monsanto where he opened research and demonstration farms known as Learning Centers in both Leland and Scott, MS later moving to St. Louis for roles in Corn and Cotton product management. Chism left Monsanto to help start Cresco Ag, a precision ag and data analytics platform focused on developing agronomic decision tools for growers. After being sold to Apollo as part of the Sanders acquisition, Chism spent 3 years as the VP of R&D for Pinnacle Ag Holdings.
Chism is holds B.S. in Agricultural Pest Management and an M.S. in Entomology from Mississippi State University and a PhD in Crop Physiology and Agronomy from Louisiana State University. Chism is a native of Friars Point, MS where he grew up on a diversified row crop farm that raised cotton, corn, soybeans and wheat. He was also active in his family’s crop consulting and research businesses. In his spare time, Chism enjoys spending time with his family, farming and the outdoors.
Bo Rhea, a Local Seed Co-Founder, leads the company’s cover, forage and recreational seed division. He also serves as CEO of SHC, a recreation and conservation family of companies that are part of Local Seed. He has over 15 years of experience in both ag and land investments and the outdoor industry.
He served as the Director of Business Development for Silverleafe Capital Partners, a boutique investment management firm in Memphis, TN from 2011 to 2014, working with family offices and trustees on their investment needs. He co-founded Listener Land Company, LLC in 2005 to invest in ag and land assets and continues to work with his brothers, Jourdan and Harris, at Listener to maximize value through ag investments and leases and asset sales.
Bo received an M.B.A. in Finance and a B.B.A. in International Business from The University of Mississippi. He lives in Memphis with his wife, Rebecca, and daughters, Ellie and Lucy. He enjoys spending time at his farm in Fayette County, TN with his family and duck hunting with friends in Mississippi.
Reed Trusty, who serves as VP of sales, comes to Local Seed Co. after working in varying sales and operations management roles for Jimmy Sanders, Inc and Pinnacle Ag from 2004-2016. He most recently held a position as a sales and marketing consultant, serving as regional account manager to Indigo Ag with responsibility in the mid-south geography.
Reed attended the University of Mississippi and Delta State University from 1993-1997 before opening his own business which he maintained until 2004. He looks forward to returning to a position in the industry that will lend him the opportunity to work with the sales force and customers of Local Seed Co. for years to come.
