The sales representative will build and maintain close relationships with LSC’s grower customers. This role will require the demonstration of strong business acumen, a broad understanding of the ag business and exceptional social intelligence. The sales representative will also have an intimate understanding of product offerings, be able to articulate the benefits of those products and identify where those products best fit customer needs. Working closely with R&D, the sales representative will help enable grower success by maximizing farm profitability.

The research agronomist will be responsible for working with the R&D team to establish research and demonstration trials throughout the Mid-South. This position requires a strong interest in agronomically focused research and demonstration along with the ability to implement trial protocols. The research agronomist must possess a strong work ethic, demonstrate initiative and have the ability to work with limited direct supervision. The position will be based in the Mid-South and will require up to 50 percent travel throughout different seasons.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical agronomy support to R&D team
  • Coordinate regional testing and on-farm trials with growers/dealers/universities
  • Operate small plot research equipment
  • Scout and maintain research and demonstration plot areas
  • Participate in grower focused field days
  • Collect and process research data
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Manage and direct temporary employees
  • Conduct all activities with a focus on safety

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. in an agricultural science field or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to continually learn and communicate agronomic practices
  • Proficient in GIS and other data collection software
  • Be an effective time manager
  • Ability to work successfully in both solo and team environments
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

The customer service representative processes all orders received for accounts assigned on a daily basis. This role also coordinates the processing of the customer order with production planning, inventory control, warehousing personnel, transportation, QA, R&D, sales and the customer, as necessary.

Key Outcomes:

  • Processes all orders received for accounts that are assigned on a daily basis
  • Maintains a current and accurate procedures manual, which details the processing requirements for each assigned account
  • Maintains knowledge of each customer’s profile (i.e., the products they order, frequency of orders, weights, pricing, FOB or delivered, etc.) and communicates with the salesperson to improve awareness of the status of their customers
  • Evaluates inventory, production and transportation issues in order to coordinate customer orders
  • Confirms pricing and acknowledges order entry within 24 hours of receipt of order; ensures proper invoicing of accounts by verifying and confirming customer pricing and contract prices
  • Coordinates between credit, accounting and the customer on any discrepancies on invoicing, material and freight
  • Reports customer feedback and all customer complaints, including any sign of customer dissatisfaction, to appropriate management and/or consumer relations
  • Coordinates product and order status between the warehouse, transportation, inventory control, sales and marketing, accounting and the customer
  • Maintains ability to promote partnerships with both internal and external customers
  • Promotes a positive and professional representation of the company to each customer
  • Maintains ability to perform efficiently and follow through on all details in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • May be required to travel

Overseeing the technology, data collection and strategy related to on-farm data across all regions, the field technician will lead and execute agronomic strategies through a team of direct reports made up of remote individuals across the country. This role requires an aptitude for agronomy, hardware and software expertise, as well as people skills. The field technician must be able to effectively communicate and assist all related personnel in accomplishing company goals relating to the promotion, sales and delivery of all services offered by Local Seed Company. This includes working with Local Seed Company staff, seed partners and grower customers.

Key Outcomes:

  • Providing agronomic technical leadership to support the field technology representatives across the company
  • Working with agronomy and sales teams to create plans that support Local Seed Company’s sales and operations
  • Coordinating pre-season crop planning and following up on all data collection with your team throughout the season
  • Making recommendations to the sales and farm teams on proper agronomic quality control actions
  • Developing, managing, monitoring and executing agronomic plans for the farms in the region
  • Visiting farm locations to evaluate crop production status and data collection
  • Collecting and summarizing key crop data obtained throughout the year
  • Providing formal and informal training to agronomic and farm team members

Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, ag econ, ag business, ag ed, ag engineering, soil or weed science
  • 5 years experience in precision ag, agronomy services, equipment electronics or other related field
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours in-season
  • Possess a good mathematical aptitude and can formulate plans and other agronomic supporting requirements
  • Ability to manage a staff remotely located
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to haul and transport equipment
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
